Growing up in Tropical North Queensland, most of her childhood was spent playing in her garden, studying the illustrations of her favourite books and producing piles of artwork. It was during these years that she developed a love of illustrative storytelling and a high attention to detail

This attention to detail and her love of colour as an artist, carries over into her creative process as a textile designer. In a fast paced world of overconsumption and product obsolescence, she is always aiming to design textiles that feel like timeless pieces of art to be loved, cared for and passed on.

Her style as an artist and designer is heavily illustrative, with a focus on capturing realistic hand-rendered detail through the use of pencil or paintbrush.

In 2018, Lauren completed her BA in Textile Design at RMIT University, over the course of which her designs were commercially produced with ACMI, Linen House and The Royal Melbourne Show. An opportunity to speak on a panel at the 2018 Fibreshed Natural Dye Conference enabled Lauren to share her project work in textile design sustainability. This involved screen printing with natural dyes to produce commercially viable products.

In 2019, Lauren was awarded the title of 'Australian Textile Designer of the Year', by the Design Institute of Australia. She continues to design with sustainability and longevity in mind and never fails to be overly excited and passionate about her next project idea.

Commissions and collaborations are always welcome, so please get in touch!
